Net-metering policy
Surplus generation banked monthly, settled annually as per Telangana Solar Policy. Residential: 100% net-metering. Commercial: net-metering or net-billing depending on size.
Bi-directional meter
Installed by DISCOM (typically within 15-30 days of feasibility approval). Meter cost charged to consumer per Telangana ERC tariff order.

Can I install solar without net metering?
Off-grid solar with battery doesn't need DISCOM permission, but you can't export surplus or get PMSG subsidy. Net metering is mandatory for grid-tied PMSG-eligible installations.
What's the difference between net-metering and net-billing?
Net-metering: surplus credits roll over month-to-month, settled at retail tariff annually. Net-billing: surplus exported is paid at avoided-cost tariff (lower than retail). Telangana residential is net-metering.
Will my meter need replacing?
Yes. Existing single-direction meter must be replaced with a bi-directional / smart meter by DISCOM. Cost is included in your application fees.
