How to Apply PM Surya Ghar Online — Step by Step Guide

The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana portal is simple but can be confusing if you've never applied. Here's the exact process.
Before You Start — Documents Ready
- Latest electricity bill (for consumer number)
- Aadhaar card
- Bank passbook or cancelled cheque
- Roof photo (clear, showing available space)
- Mobile number linked to Aadhaar
Step 1: Go to pmsuryaghar.gov.in
Click "Apply for Rooftop Solar" on the homepage.
Step 2: Register
- Select State: Telangana
- Select DISCOM: TSSPDCL (South) or TGSPDCL (North)
- Enter electricity consumer number (on your bill, top right)
- Enter registered mobile number
- Verify OTP
Step 3: Fill Application
- Confirm your address (auto-populated from DISCOM records)
- Select system capacity (we recommend 3 kW for max subsidy)
- Upload electricity bill photo
- Upload roof photo
- Enter bank details (subsidy will be credited here)
Step 4: Submit & Track
You'll get an application number. Track status at the same portal. DISCOM reviews within 7-15 working days.
Step 5: After Approval
Choose an empanelled vendor (like Sri Ishaan Solar) from the portal. Vendor installs within 90 days. After installation + DISCOM inspection, subsidy is credited to your bank.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Wrong consumer number (double-check from your bill)
- Blurry document uploads (use good lighting)
- Bank account not in your name (must match Aadhaar name)
- Applying twice (only one application per consumer number)
